Dive into the expression of dance as a form of worship

In our dance classes, students have the opportunity based on their class choice to learn basic dance techniques and explore choreography while connecting with God, to dive into the expression of dance in worship, or to gain strength & confidence through beginner Acro Dance.

CLASSES OFFERED:

PRESCHOOL/KINDER DANCE | AGES 3-5

A class specifically for our tiny littles. Students will explore movement and play through dance and flagging in the presence of God. Our goal is to begin introducing them to some foundations of worship and dance that they can take with them into all of life. We want to see even our tiny children ministering to the Lord with purpose in their hearts while creating a new and lasting connection point with God.

ACRO DANCE (Beginner & Intermediate) | Ages 7-12

If there is enough interest, we hope to offer2 levels of Acro dance this semester!

Acrobatic dance is the combination of dance and acrobatic skills, such as cartwheels, handstands, aerials, etc., resulting in a unique dance style that’s both graceful and powerful. In our acro classes, students will explore the fundamentals of this dance style by developing their physical skills through strength and flexibility training so they can perform basic dance leaps and acrobatic skills. With enough registration, our goal is to offer two levels of Acro Dance to best cater to our student’s capabilities. The goal of this class is to help students become aware of their bodies, develop spatial awareness, and realize their capabilities so they can freely express themselves in dance worship in a fun, creative, and safe way.

FOUNDATIONS/WORSHIP CLASS | AGES 5+

This introductory class aims at providing all students with a basic knowledge of worship dance. It is a pre-requisite to all of our more advanced Choreo/Technic classes. Students will explore different movements and play through dance and flagging in the presence of God. Our goal is to give students a safe space to explore, learn, and grow in their dance worship so they can minister to personally as well as minister to others. At the end of the day, we would love to see students cultivate a new connecting point with God through dance.

TECHNICAL/CHOREOGRAPHY | Grades 1-9

In this class, students will further develop their dance technique, working on skills with flavours of contemporary, modern, and ballet. The students will build their balance, flexibility, and strength. As they grow in their dance skills, they will be working on performance pieces for the Christmas and spring recitals, using their dance skills to worship God in a performance expression of worship.
